ABOUT HARLOW

Harlow was born October 22, 2016 at 6:49am. Weighing a healthy 7 lbs. 6 oz. + 19 1/2 inches long. During pregnancy they had noticed complications with fluid on her brain. I was asked multiple times to terminate the pregnancy but I knew that was not the best, and I was 100% right. Harlow may have complications but she has overcome HUGE obstacles just within a week and half of being born. Harlow was taken instantly to the NICU to be treated. She has filled mine and her daddy's hearts will an overflowing love. Although, she has not had the best entrance into the world she is fighting strong. The following day she was diagnosed with LISSENCEPHALY.

We were told the future could look grim as she would be globally delayed. She may never be able to hold her head up, sit, crawl, walk, talk and feed herself, look after her self and do anything that a typical child would do. We were also told her life expectancy would be shortened.

We were broken. It was the most devastating news that we could ever image for our child and our life as a new family. Our journey as parents has taken a totally different direction than we had thought. We are still trying to understand the new "normal".

We believe in miracles and the power of prayer through God. Just within a week of intense hard work from my husband and the NICU nurses working to get me eating through a bottle, Harlow is now taking her bottles and feeding tube is taken out. This is the FIRST of many milestones she will overcome.

Keep in touch and follow Harlow's journey

  1. Hi... my son was born 10/13/14 and he has microcephaly and lissencephaly ... he's legally blind and has CP.... he had a level 4 bleed in utero... he had hydrocephalus They said he wouldn't live through the surgeries, that he would be a vegetable. Well my child is very much alive and self feeds, he sits up, interacts with people, laughs and smiles. He's crawling not yet talking but he's vocalizing. My point is live your baby be happy don't let them put any labels or limitations on your kiddo. Good luck.
